I have my hosting on 1and1.com and the ioncode loaders are not installed. Run time loading also did not work. I have submitted helpdesk ticket to 1and1 but can I use the plugin without this or is there another way to use it?

Some hosting companies do not have IonCube loaded on their servers by default and they've disabled the ability to load it at runtime (the way the loaders work). Nearly every hosting company will provide you the ability to load ioncube using a modified php.ini in the root of your site. Check within the knowledge base for 1and1. IonCube is a very very popular encoding that many software products use, so they will have encountered this before and should have a solution documented.

I created a local php.ini file to point it to the .so file. phpifo shows it correctly but the plugin is still throwing the error.

here is the phpinfo data:

Please suggest what to do.

We've had customers work with 1and1 tech support and get the appropriate php.ini file working. Since they have a lot of hosting options, they'll have to be the party that can best explain what you need to do. Calling them usually works the best.

Working with the tech support @ 1and1, I was finally able to get the plugin to install and activate.

Now the issue I'm having is this:

Why am I having this issue when I could install it right?

Also, is the only way for me to enter the ratings is through importing csv?

Could you let me know how you resolved it? Would appreciate if you could send the steps.
Thanks

The best solution would be to call 1and1 support. Not all hosting packages are the same and we've found that out the hard way! Always best to call support for a solution that fits your hosting package.

The ioncube loader is simply not installed. They need to revisit it.

Ratings can be entered through the generator (automatically), by you manually via comment field, or by web users via comment field.

1) Call the 1and1 tech support. Have them install ioncube for you.
2) Download WFReview Plug-in > Upload to "Plug-in" folder in Wordpress
3) Create a php.ini file with the following:

zend_extension =/homepages/XX/dXXXXXXXXX/htdocs/ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so

Where XX/dXXXXXXXXXX = your own ID (get it from 1and1 control panel)

4) Upload this php.ini file to the following directories:

"root" folder
"WP-admin" folder

5) Log into WP-admin for your blog
6) Go to Plugins > Activate WFReview

You should be good to go.

The only problem you will see is that some of the plugins will no longer work once you install the WFReview plugin. In order to fix this, you have to add the "php.ini" file to each of the plugin folders that is no longer working.

One problem I'm still having now is the "Page" feature in wordpress. Now I can no longer edit any pages via Wordpress. I'm trying to figure out where to put the php.ini file to fix this...

Any ideas?

The entire problem here is crappy hosting.

Let's be honest guys, you need to have a quality host and 1and1 is bottom-tier.

Zensix.com is who we recommend if you absolutely cannot afford your own VPS or dedicated box. When importing 2000+ posts, you want a VPS, if only for end user performance.

Other plugins do NOT, I repeat, do NOT break because of WFReview. WFReview is 100% compliant with the wordpress standard. If another plugin is not compliant, we offer our apologies but can't do much about it.
