In your pre-sales posts, you mentioned that PHP is needed, but not that it must be PHP*5*.

I have a dedicated server with Lunar Pages and have an existing site that is coded using PHP4 .... I can not upgrade to PHP5 as this "breaks" the existing site and it would require extensive re-coding of the existing site to upgrade server to PHP5.

When I try to install the review plug-in on a blog on the same server, I get this error message. "The file /home/makewine/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wfreview/wfreview.php was encoded with the PHP 5 ionCube Encoder, and requires PHP 5 to be installed."

Is there a work around for this problem so I can use the plug-in?

I bought the lifetime license and it looks like I am out $162 .... ouch !

Anything you can recommend?

Thanks,

Lou K

Hi Lou,

Contact your host and let them know that you need Ioncube Loader installed. PHP version should work for you. If not, let me know, we'll set you up with a reputable host and comp you a few months free hosting.

have your host install php5 in addition to your php4. You can then specify in your .htaccess file to call php5

my server also had php4 and I needed to keep it for some older scripts I was running. running both versions is working out fine for me

medicalhumor is right. They should be offering both versions of PHP. PHP4 is no longer supported or maintained and many hosts made a complete transition to PHP5 last summer when PHP4 reached the end of it's support life.
