Hey guys, great work so far. I have problems with special chars in my csv files. Currently trying to start some german language based sites. Might it be possible to make the upload UTF-8 compatible?

Thanks a bunch
Manuel

What is happening to the special chars? Are they being converted to another character? a question mark? Or is it cutting off everything after the character?

Let me know and we'll look into this ASAP.

It cuts off everything from the special char :)

I've been able to reproduce the same results. This is one of the top priorities to fix for the next release within the next few days.

This is very important for me, because until its fixed, the plugin is useless for me. Because my languages is full of special chars.

Really hope this is getting fixed :)

Thanks!

Im running 1.1.2 - but it still doesnt work.

If i do an test run that looks like this:

Test,Test2,Test3
Åøøø øåå ææ,A,B

The output will be like this:

A B

It doesnt post chars like "øæå"

Hey Snaps,

Sorry for the delay in this, I thought that was fixed. Let me make that our priority today. In the mean time, send me your data file so we can test with your actual data, Just send maybe the first 50 records if you could. nickmattern@gmail.com

Sorry for the delay, we'll get you going as quickly as possible!

Whatever it is, we'll find the issue and either document a workaround, fix, or update the plugin to handle it. Thanks for your patience!

Version 1.1.3 beta may fix this problem. It supports files in UTF-8 mode which should allow the special characters to be passed.

Download: http://reviewpluginforwordpress.com/download/wfreview-v1.1.3-beta.zip

If you run into any issues please let me know.

Yes it doesnt work. It wont let me import UTF-8 chars into posts. It just ignores the column.

Using UTF-8 chars does work inside the plugin, if you are writing your template.

If i import a text saying this:

"My name is Søren"

then it imports this into the post:

"My name is S"

Thank you for the feedback. My tests with UTF-8 was limited to non-language characters like (TM), +/-, and (R) etc. I'll retest with a foreign language (not English) and get to the bottom of this.

We're updating this and will release a patch shortly. Lots of testing required, thus the delay.

@snaps, can you PM me a sample of your data? Everything I've tested against 1.1.3 has imported properly.
