Copyright and Noncopyright Pictures

Anyone know where I can find noncopyrighted wallpaper, pictures of celebrities ect? And how do you distinguish the difference between copyrighted and noncopyright pictures?

I don't know the answer to where, but the answer to "what" is to assume it *is* protected unless you see it designated as public domain or creative commons with the rights you want. There is some stuff on wikipedia that has been released into the public domain.

The other issue with celebs is that they "own" the rights to their likeness, and can get testy if they see their photos in places they don't want them.

Politicians fall under different rules altogether, but again, you have to know who took the photo to determine the rights available.
