View Full Version : Drip Feeding CSV Upload + A G Penalty??

Is there a way to drip feed the csv uploads? For instance, I experienced something strange on a relatively aged, trusted domain.
I uploaded about 50 posts (basically directory info listing contact no., address, etc). Within 1 day the posts were indexed then deindexed.
I thought it might have been a glitch. I then went on to do about 200 other entries and within hours my rankings dropped for most of my major keywords - wtf I said to myself?!
The only thing I could think of (after discussing it with some WF buddies) is that maybe G thought I was some kind of autoblog.
So my question is:
1) Is there a way to drip feed the csv uploads other then going in and manually setting the dates for each post?
2) Or, is there another way of mass setting the dates that I am not aware of?
3) Has anyone else experienced this?
4) If only a few posts at a time should be uploaded, what's a bench mark number to start with?
I have no idea if this is a novice's mistake as I m a ppcer tackling seo anew.
If you care to share any tips or have suggestions about the above, tx alot...
As always thanks for the fast customer support.

When you do the import, there is a date range option in Step 3. Enter your range here (past and future, this plugin supports scheduled posts) you shouldn't run into the same date issue. You can also set the date via field in the CSV.
Nothing I've posted/imported since January 2 has been deindexed and most of the sitemaps are 90% indexed, so the date range feature in import step 3 seems to bypass what you've experienced.

Wow! So you're basically saying if I set the date from from say today til friday it will schedule the posts (randomly I suppose like it does when you back date it) and if I have say 50 posts it will spread it out from today monday till friday (or whatever)?!
That's nice. That's a great feature that was subtlely missed by me. Might be worth highlighting it even more in the features - I'd have probably paid an extra $10 for the software :D
I forgot to mention two things also:
a) From each post I linked back (internally) to the homepage using creating a ton of internal links all at once (a good 100+ if you count each field of the csv file)
b) I had an affiliate link in each post (it was cloaked)
c) I got our good friend over at WF to do a 50 SB order to get the pages indexed....
do you think any of a)-c) might have affected the changes I saw?

great option on date import via .csv. How does the date need to be formatted in your .csv if you include it as a field?

There's no way to know why you were slapped really. Too many new posts and too many external links that end up on Aff landing pages may have something to do with it.
You can generate 900 posts, from today to next year at this time, and the system will spread the posts out, so Goog sees your blog growing.

Any properly formatted CSV will work. Make sure to save it with windows compatibility as MAC and other formats don't terminate newlines properly. You DO need column headers in your CSVs.

Is it possible to not only set a date, but a time at which you'd want posts to be posted?
I currently have it set up to post by the day as suggested, but would like to spread out the uploads over the course of the day... especially since I have 1000s of SKUs to work with.
Thanks,
Corey

Corey,
No at this point its not possible to set the date. I'll put that on the list of requirements for the next release.

Also, beyond staggering the dates, I always empty my ping list before doing a bulk upload. Pinging google 20,000 times in an hour tends to piss them off.
Once the site is loaded, re-add the ping list so the drip-posts can do their job.

The custom import process in WFR v3 now bypasses the ping process. This (along with other improvements) speeds up the import over tenfold.
