Hey folks.

This thread is going to be the "one stop shop" for all your CSV file problems. Before you post a new thread or IM with a question about a broken CSV, read the content here and you'll likely find your solution.

If you don't find the solution, please contact us and we'll make sure your problem is added to this thread.

All my data is showing up instead of the columns (fields) when I'm trying to import

This is likely due to missing headers in your CSV file. To add headers to your CSV, open excel (2003 or 2007), click on the DATA tab, and choose From Text (2007) or Get External Data > From Text (2003). Use the import wizard to specify the delimiter in your file, there is a window on the screen that tells you what your data will look like, if the data fields do not look right, then you need to select the proper delimiter. Finish the Import Wizard. When done, simply add a new line to the top of the data and add your headers. When finished, click on File > Save As > CSV Microsoft Windows, and save the file. Start the WFReview import process over and you will now see your column headers instead of data.

I'm on a Mac, when I save my CSV, it shows all the headers AND data in the import utility

You need to make sure your data is saved with Windows compatability. We're working on a fix for this, but see if you can't get the file to a windows box and save it there. Steve Jobs lost a hockey match to us a few years ago and since he's still mad about it, he won't add the "windows CSV" feature to Macs... (ok, maybe that's stretching it a little!)

My data file uses Tabs, Pipes, Spaces, semicolons, or some other type of delimiter, not commas

No worries, simply load the file into excel as described above, and save the file as a CSV. For now, our program only works with CSVs, we'll look at adding other delimiters in the future, but it's really quite simple to convert any delimited file to a CSV, so give it a shot.

I have an access file I with the data I want to import, does your product support Access?

No, but Access has a REALLY easy way to export tables and queries as CSV files, and we do support CSV files. Simply go into your Tables or Query view and right click the table/query you wish to export, choose Export, then choose Comma Separated Values. Make sure your text fields use a double apostrophe (or quotation marks, same thing!) when exporting.

We'll add more scenarios as things come in, but for now, these are the most common. Please feel free to ask us any question, we're here to help and get you to profitability!

Do you run it as admin by right-clicking on ET and clicking "Run as Administrator?" Or did you actually go into the compatibility tab and check the "Run as Administrator" box?

I have no idea what you're talking about. Please elaborate.

This may be my issue from the other thread. My files is not CSV. It is pipes. Your software read the headers OK so I assumed it was reading the rest of the file ok.

Not true?
